The mission of The Light Switch Foundation:
' To improve the lives of traumatic brain injury survivors and their support system by offering emotional support as the foundation of our tools to build and grow cognition, fueled by the knowledge and experience earned through personal TBI recovery '

illuminating the path and improving the lives of TBI survivors
The Light Switch Foundation strives to significantly improve the emotional and physical wellbeing, including the mental health of head injury survivors and their families through social engagement, while identifying and making resources available to encourage the effective recovery and rehabilitation from invisible and misunderstood brain injuries.
Purpose and Position of the Foundation:
To provide support for Traumatic Brain Injury Survivors, as well as answers for both survivors and their advocates; to help offer focus on continuing and evolving options of recovery and rehabilitation following a TBI. The position and experience of the founders of The Light Switch Foundation, as TBI survivors, allows for a knowledgeable and truly empathetic platform to advance rehabilitation options and provide access to efficient efforts helping new TBI victims.
The founders of The Light Switch Foundation realized, through personal experience, that general knowledge in hospitals does not commonly provide Traumatic Brain Injury Survivors, or their family, with a clear, nor satisfying understanding of what to expect when they are stable and ready to leave the hospital. Even less clear is the path to effective or state of the art rehabilitation and recovery. Our founders and members have lived this truth as well as the frustration. Everyday we make a conscious decision to create and inspire an environment to help turn the lights back on for TBI survivors. The Light Switch Foundation of Truckee and Lake Tahoe exists to help improve the lives of all TBI Survivors...

I need your ideas as we grow this foundation to help more TBI survivors.
I am a TBI survivor. 20 years of learning to make the light brighter in my world has taught me how great life is and how rewarding and enjoyable focused, meaningful hard work can be. The science of TBI recovery has matured in the last 20 years in ways most doctors only dreamed of in 2000. The medical community now accepts that the brain really can change and heal itself when we give it the right fuel. The Light Switch Foundation is a vehicle that brings TBI survivors together to access the fuel to heal and grow. Because love and compassion are the foundation of recovery, the Light Switch Foundation is here. Together. Growing, nurturing love and compassion.
Every day we wake up, we know that more strength is gained in the steps we will take on the path before us. We just have to show up and start moving our feet. Every day we learn and every day we become a stronger happier part of this amazing world....
